Currency

Your best choice for currency would be that of the destination country. Travellers Cheques are available in US Dollars, Sterling Pounds, Euros, Deutsche Marks, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Dutch Guilders, French Francs, Japanese Yen and Swiss Francs etc.

If there are no travellers cheques in your destination currency, US Dollar travellers cheques would be the next best option.

Like cash, you can save unused travellers cheques for future use within 180 days from the date of your return. Please treat your travellers cheques like you would treat your cash.

Encashment

On your return, unused travellers cheques can be converted to cash at the best prevailing rates. Incase of lost cheques, please be sure to contact the local issuing office and also the local police within 24 hours and obtain a FIR.

Refund

If your travellers cheques are lost or stolen, the issuer will refund their face value provided

Entitlements:

An Indian Traveler is entitled to avail the following amounts of Foreign Exchange whilst traveling abroad.

• USD 25,000Whilst on a business visit for every visit abroad.
• USD 10,000   Whilst on a personal visit during the Calendar Year ( BTQ )

The amount can be split and used on multiple occasion of travel subject to a maximum of USD 10,000 in one Calendar Year.

An Indian Traveler is entitled to avail Foreign Exchange for the above amounts subject to a maximum of USD 2000 ( or its equivalent for any other currency ) in Currency notes for every visit and the balance necessarily in the form of Travelers Cheques subject to a maximum of USD 10,000 in one calendar year. This stipulation applies to both the above forms of travel i.e. Business / Personal ( BTQ).
